I need a new phone and will buy one outright this time as I am on a decent sim only deal at the mo. 

So I've been having a look around, but as ever it's a minefield and I've decided that I want a phone with dual sim, at least 32gb of memory and from a brand I've heard of.  My budget is about £200.

Firstly, find other options than egay. Mobiles are a top scam there.

I'd be inclined to look for a brand that has a good history of updates - for example, there were another 50+ Android security flaws on the cert list for this week, including about 15 remotely exploitable ones (the type where a remote scumbag can compromised your phone without your knowledge).  So regular firmwares essential.

Agree with TB, would not recommend anyone buying tech off there at all. too dodgy.

Well that's Huawei and ZTE off the list then.   

To be honest though when I see the list of things I have to agree to before updating an app, I just assume that all my data gets spread far and wide anyway.

That said I use a OnePlus 3 personally (OnePlus 3T is just out, more fasterer, more betterer version of mine) and I can highly recommend it - no "phoning home" that I've spotted, either, thankfully

BTW, reasonable assumption, Sir Tig .. if not directly then I'm sure it's quietly shared by GCHQ to many!

The One Plus is well regarded and is possibly a replacement for my Nexus 5, IIRC it`s the guys a Cyanogenmod that started the ball rolling with the One Plus one.
