Door lock
« on: 14 December 2016, 11:02:26 »

New issue. When trying to unlock the doors using the fob the car will unlock then relock itself. I need to quickly open the door on the unlock click then when i get in it locks itself again. If i pull the lock pin it stays unlocked until i get out again. All doors etc shut properly and all lock pins either fully open or fully down in the lock position. Is it key or door lock.

I'd say it's your driver's door lock motor, or it might just need all the linkages to/from the lock/handle lub'ing

Had a similar situation on my present 2.6     just check that all the puddle lights operate when doors open . One of mine was not (rear o/s)  took out door switch, just one screw , which was loose by the way & probably causing a poor earth , squirt of switch cleaner & all was then ok .
This was also preventing a Reset  of door locking system & stopping  the dead locking working.

Worth a look IMO ;)   HTH

I was told a  low battery can cause this "opens then locks again" problem   :-\

But glad it's all working ok now  Paul  :y

I have this situation with the saloon, on an intermittent basis. Seems to play up when its been bucketing down. Once weather clears up the system returns to normal. ???
On the two estates, I had the 'six times syndrome'...meaning if open, would not lock until tried six times. Both cars did this without exception, locking and unlocking. Replacing the lock motor cured both cars. :y

I lied  :'( opened the car this morning and all good drove it to work and drivers door wouldnt lock so locked it with the key. I went to leave work and unlocked it with the fob got in and started the car it fired up then cut out with the imobilser (car with spanner) flashing. Took the key out for a second then put the key back in and started the car the imobilser flashed 3 times then went off  i then drove it home. I managed to lock it with the fob but thd drivers lock went down very lazy. Question would the door lock playing up cause the issue with the imobiler.

Immobiliser is a separate circuit/system so perhaps chance :-\

Two suggestions re the lock symptoms...

1. Drivers door solenoid failing. Or

2. Contact switch issue as per EBAs suggestion, Duff door contact switch :-\

Money is door switch though ;)

Indeed they can :y

Should find that it temporarily solves the problem :y

Ultimately CL will work indefinitely but passenger front door might not lock/unlock...

But will certainly prove the theory  :y

Contact switches proved by puddle light/interior light misbehaviour.
