got down to 4 miles range today (i trust the range - have tested to zero twice before).   when i filled up it only took 59.7l even with waiting and topping up a few times.  so i make that about 60 litres total capacity but the manual says 75l. seems like quite  a big difference has anyone else noticed that?

Estates definitely take nearly 75l when empty. It cost over £90

Usually get 63 - 65 Litres in when the range indicates 30 Miles.

Check the underside of the tank. Have seen the pump suck the tank flat when the tank ventilation fails. That being said, the mid calculates range based on the signal from the fuel level sender. The senders are not terribly accurate.

Don't leave an estate that's showing 0 mile range standing overnight - it won't start in the morning even though there's probably another 20 miles worth of fuel in it. Not that I'd ever do something like that more than a few times

Many years ago, I actually ran out of fuel on the way to the petrol station .... I managed to just coast up to the pump

I have had 73.5l in a saloon before, so suggest either your tank is deformed, or the gauge is wank.

Many years ago, I actually ran out of fuel on the way to the petrol station .... I managed to just coast up to the pump 

Did that once (but not in the Omega) .. I knew I was pushing my luck as the engine started to miss going around the long left 270º corner coming off the motorway into Slough.  Fortunately the next two corners before the petrol station were right hand and the fuel pump was on the left

I've done it in both a Transit and a Fiesta.  I still had to push the Fiesta to the pumps, as it came to a halt about 20yrs short  .  Thank god I didn't have to push the tranny

I did it with a loan car from the dealers when my car was in for warranty work.... this was when the oil refinery blockades were on, fortunately the road to the dealer was down hill but I didn't slow down for the speed bumps!

I've done it to a hire car company abroad - one of those scumbag companies where they charge you for a whole tank, and tell you to bring it back empty...   ...so I did.  Slightly misjudged it - it was manoeuvred around the car drop off on the starter motor :
