 :D

Funny that. I got:

Did a Buy it Now.
"Can you send me your registration number so I can check it's the correct kit"?
"I'm happy to take the item offered, please as long it is complete with all 3 pullies"
Instant refund "Incorrect item for application....etc"
"You'll be needing this item. It's a bit more expensive: £100"...
"f.. oxtrott..oscar!"

That's a very popular photo, considering it's not "generic". ::)

Conclusion : No such thing as cam belt kits for £20. ::)

Oh, and who's next? ;)

You could just buy two of these, and use the adjustable top idler from the second kit, with your old rear washer and bolt, as a bottom pulley. You're still getting a cambelt kit for £40  :y

In my case, I saw someone selling a brand new lower idler for a tenner. So I bought one of these kits for £20, plus a new lower (fixed) idler - so I have essentially obtained a cambelt kit for £30.

Appreciate it might have been sat around for a while, but A) It's not big money to take a punt and B) Who knows how long euro car parts shite has been sat around also?

Good point. So the kit for £20 does actually exist?

Shall we start trying registration numbers 'til we get a hit? :D

Always worth a cruise around Car Parts Connexion as although the kits are rarer there is often the individual parts available.

I'd expect Vauxhall supplied parts to be older still, but it wouldn't make any difference to me

.

I have tried on several occasions to buy parts from various dealers on there, and when contacting to purchase, the parts become unavailable, or they can't find them.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AC-Delco-Timing-belt-kit-Saab-900-2-5-9000-3-0-/200878034873?fits=Model%3AOmega&hash=item2ec5438fb9:g:ZikAAOxy5QtR83dB
Here it is again, though as observed the picture lacks the third pulley.

I emailed the guy to ask, as I need a kit for the Elite

I asked:

Hi. Does this kit contain three rollers - the two attached to the tensioner, and also a separate, lower idler which looks similar?

Response:

This image is not a generic image, the images shown shows exactly what you will recieve. I am aware there are 2 or 3 different types of this kit dependant upon your chassis and engine numbers. The one you are talking about retails out at around the £100 mark. If you send me the registratons of the vehicles you need these for i can quote you a price ?

Definitely a dangling carrot then! Is that perhaps a misadvertised (yes, thats a word) diesel kit?

I have had exactly the same experience. I gave up on it a long time ago.

Interesting as I have not had any problems (yet) with car parts connexion.

Just ordered one of the £20 kits to see what happens...........

I've had mostly good experiences with Car Parts Connexion.  The poor experiences were usually around "oh, you'll have to call back when Bob is in" type hassles.

Have had some bargains from them, but on occasion, you get "That's at xxx branch, and will be two days/£££..." fffs why advertise as in stock at the clearance price then... >:(

That reminds me. Must have a rummage for project...
