cool wall
« on: 30 July 2008, 09:16:04 »

I have seen this on another forum and will admit that it is a real good bit of fun.

Members submit ideas for cars they would like to see on the cool wall, a couple of times a week new cars are added in the way of a new thread and a poll with 4 catagories seriously uncool, uncool, cool, sub zero. and discuss from there....

Because it has new threads per car it would mean that a new section would have to be added and rules would have to be applied, but given that we are a all petrol heads i think it would add to the forum without taking too much traffic away from all the other boards.

any other thoughts?

Quite a "cool" idea. ;)::)

Sounds like a bit of fun if it's possible for the admin team to set such a thing up. :y

I am not sure I fully understand how it would work (bit dull!) But if I understand it right seems like a bit of fun.

Would seperate the opinions of who percieves what as cool and what as not (if that makes sense!!)

i have put on in the test area for you to have a play around with.

The idea is that the members suggest cars they would like featured, these are added to a list and every week one or two new ones are added in the way of a new post and new poll.

The only downside it that it would need its own board, with something like a sticky at the top that people use to post suggestions and it will need to be managed by someone.

Right, I've been giving this a bit of thought and the way I see, the Cool Wall would need it's own section of the forum. Within the Cool Wall section you could have the sections of the "wall" (Cool, Uncool etc.) represented by sticky threads. You could then have a nomination and voting section whereby a car could be nominated for the cool wall and a poll attached as to which part of the cool wall it should go. The poll should run for a set length of time and then closed.

Might give the admins a bit of a headache to set up though. ::)

We would need such a section to be fairly 'free running' without significant admin input....

No the poll is the voting, there is no sticky 'board'

No, just leave them open, if housekeeping was needed then clean then up after a certain period of time

Might give the admins a bit of a headache to set up though. ::)

It could be a little work to get it up and running and add the polls, once running i don't think it would need much attention, if help was needed i would be happy to do the set up and collation of the suggestions

my comments in hightlight :exclamation  ;)

It's a nice idea. I suspect the amount of admin work required is down to the users. If people stick to the format it will run itself. If the threads digress and people start trying to sell cars, etc. it will be a headache. :-/
