Places to stay near Dagenham?
« on: 06 March 2017, 14:10:47 »

MrsGK and I are visiting Dagenham at short notice, Sunday morning. Any recommended places to stay within an hours drive? Cheap and nice preferred.
Also somewhere nice to eat on the way down from Teesside?

Eta - will be a late arrival and early departure so doesn't need many creature comforts...

No personal experience, but try Googling nearby pubs; they usually have chaep B&B at short notice. Not posh, but still ok.

Theres a Premier inn at Chequers Corner , Dagenham,  not far from the Ford works . Prem inns are usually to the same pretty good standard, but prices are usually higher in the London area.
I have stayed in that one and it was good , but 3 or so years ago . Seem to remember it being around £45   HTH   :y

Premier Inn also has the advantage of a food serving pub at virtually all sites, so saves faffing about for evening tucker.

Guess who's stayed at all the ones that don't!

In fairness we always try for Premier Inns when working away as it's a known quantity. The biggest struggle is getting our admin people to book you in one that's less than 50 miles away from the site you're working at! They do seem to struggle with basic concepts like including the meal or breakfast in the booking, bless 'em, you gotta love the red tape at work!

That's the thing with them. They are simple, basic, comfortable but with no frills. They lack "proper" hotel advantages, but invariably I find them cleaner, more comfortable than many of the £200per night ones.

And the bar and restaurant helps while away the long, lonely evenings...  ...but no night porter manning the bar is the price you pay :(

Far too expensive, plus your probably have to wait to at least mid afternoon before your breakfast gets cooked.  ::)

.........not around that weekend anyway. me and the boys have got a House clearance job on in Teeseide.  ;D

Used to be The Chequers Pub....

Blimey, your brave,  ;D, just make sure you bring some spare Alloys,   at least 3 sets,  if you get stuck there's a Halfords around the corner, but they rarely stock anything other than Car Alarms and Locking Wheel Nuts these days.

Im only joking GK your be fine  :y :y         .....as long as your not out after the Curfew.
