Tyre question
« on: 11 March 2017, 09:37:34 »

Anyone used both or either the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance and or the Uniroyal Rainsport 3 and what is your opinion on them?

I want to know what tyre is best suited to the Omega 2.2 225/55/R16.

Thanks

Don't bother with the Efficientgrip on the Omega. Low temp/wet grip is shockingly poor. Spend the extra few quid and get the Assym2s.

Fitted a pair of these on the front of the TD estate a couple of months ago replacing Enduro 926's which were poor and tracked badly. Very impressed with the Rainsport's so far. :y

Thinking about it, don't think they're available in 16" :-\

Avon ZV7s rate as well as Uniroyals and a bit cheaper... considering these for the 525 if I have it long enough to fit a set of non winter tyres...

I have just taken a set of Goodyear Assym2 tyres off my MFL 2.0 Estate with 225/55R16 size.

They had around 4mm of tread left and up until about 4.5mm they were fine. If provoked, the front would let go on a corner and then it simply slid until it could find traction. Less than 4.5mm I found that the back end would light up if moving off smartly from a side road and would get skittish in the wet a little earlier than before.

I have just fitted a set of Bridgestone RE0002 Adrenalin tyres and they really work well. I have them on 2 of my other cars and they just grip in the wet.

I also had previously a set of Dunlop SP Sport 01 and they were nice, but wore the edges (even though tracked up from WIM) and were also lousy in the cold (near freezing) weather and a set of Goodyear EfficentGrips which I had no issues with.

Have efficent grips on an 3.2 omega and a volvo s80 2.5t. Both 16" w rated tyres. Good all round tyre for grip and wear.

Go to tyre company, buy what you can afford, drink free tea or coffee while you wait. :y

Did you fit the XL version?

Heard that the side walls are very soft and the XL has thicker side walls. Don't know if this is true or not..

Very true and we'll recommended if you have an estate... Given the state of the roads, prudent on the saloon too... :y
