Looks like I'll need to wait until I accidentally elbow the screen then :)

Prepare yourself for a long wait if your vehicle has a heat reflective screen with rain sensor fixing.

Go independent :y won't be an insurance job though, so you'll pay retail... flip side is you'll get a better job done and the insurers can't then bend you over for it come renewal... typically £120-160.

Personally, I would use these guys...

They do have a Web site and email address, links nuked just in case.

I have used them for their windscreen services, not their Internet ones ;)

For a correct screen replacement should all visual trims be replaced as part of the insurance claim?

Accept the bottom trim wont be replaced ,just original refitted, but am I understanding that the screen fits into a metal cradle which gets renewed then sealed into the car. Then the curved external rubber seal is also renewed.

mine was done by Autoglass 3 weeks ago. The cradle was replaced, but the trim wasn't. It now fits better than it did before, and doesn't vibrate at speed. The damaged screen(cracked and delaminated in the lower N/S corner and a couple of stone chips) was the original. I was surprised that the scuttle didn't need to come off, and relieved there was only light surface rust in the surround. The fitter cleaned and painted that without being prompted.

At home.

Quick review: the fitter was excellent once Autoglass eventually managed to make the appointment.

My last had two senior fitters, yet Autoglass still owe me a screen :-X

Took them three visits to provide the correct screen AND fit it correctly...
