Thank you all for your good wishes.  But I'm afraid that until I discover an oil well in my back garden, getting anothe mig is unlikely.  Like most of you, I regard 2.2L as a fairly modest engine, but according to the official figures, CO2 emissions are 243 g/km which will = £430 VED next year. My new 2nd hand C-max is 151 g/km = £170 or thereabouts.  And in the mean time, I'm getting 52 mpg diesel (equiv. to say 47 mpg petrol given the price differential). So I'm saving £loads, which I now need to, what with the twins (1 boy, 1 girl) and a wife who will only be working part-time after next year, if at all.
You get the picture....

Good luck with the twins Alan...mine are 17 months old and boy do they keep you busy so make sure you give your good lady plenty of help,especialy as they get older. :y
