I didn't know that it was permitted to have a male cox in the Ladies race, and don't ever remember it before. :-\

I'm heard their sociology courses are very creative these days, inventing appropriate titles for every type between Mr Male and Ms Female. ::) ::) ::) Poor little snowflakes get all upset if there is not one for their unique circumstances. ;D ;D ;D

That weird lefty chef woman who writes for the Grauniad and pops up on the Beeb every other day - cant remember her name - is now very insistent on being gender non specific and will only be referred to as "they".
I dread to think what the world is going to be like after another couple of generations of these loons being taken seriously.

Kim Jong Un is not such an unattractive proposition after all. It's happened before, on a smaller scale, and I can see it happening big time eventually. When things get just too weird......something happens to put everything back the way it was.
In our case, a ball of rock and gas.

My only hope is that the pendulum will swing so far in one direction and then swing back the other way. We really are through the looking glass now. Nothing makes sense to anyone over the age of 40 these days.

It does to those of us in the hippy sixties who believed in another way and another type of World. The world that was the dull, grey and boring for the previous generations we needed to pass into history. We wanted to break away to a mass of colour and free creative expression. A World free of war and class stereotypes, were Woman were no longer tied to their domestic duties, and men free from the production rat race.

Obviously by the 1970s the hippy movement had collapsed and so many naive aims were not achieved. But we are freer now than we once were. There is a long way still to go, but at least everyone, including men, can show their emotions and be free of having to fit into an ideal of what society expects of them.

Let's rejoice we have come some way down the road of people just being who they are.  It is those amongst us who are filled with hate and a feeling of injustice that would should fear.

;D ;D no I didn't, but I wore plenty of clothes covered in flower patterns. My mum wouldn't let me go further than that! Wise woman my mum, who was a full on socialist who embraced some of the "new ideas". :D ;)

I was a hippy in my early teens, and then progressed into the left wing mindset that often befell that generation.
Thankfully, being raised in a very strictly religious household, which I had rejected, taught me that I should question everything including my own beliefs.
This resulted in my realisation that the hippy culture was a nothing but a con which fooled a lot of young naïve people for a while. And left wing thinking is also a type of con, which seems to fool a lot of people who really should be old enough to know better.
The old saying "He who has not been a socialist before he was 40 has no heart. He who is still a socialist after the age of 40 has no head", rings very true with me.
