Probably the only car my wife has actually liked to be fair.
I wish it had a bit better acceleration, but I'll just have to put up with that, unless you guys have any hints??? I've thought of one of these terraclean or engine cleans might help, but heard good and bad about them.
It'll never be any form of quick car with a 2.2 DTi engine. However there are things you can do but it depends on how much of a return for your money you want.
A proper thorough service with good quality bits to make sure everything is as it's maker intended it (I use OE on trade card for everything).
Then it's very simple. It's a turbocharged engine so whatever helps to get more colder air in and more hot gas quickly out will help. Proper bona fide remaps are also available and claim around 20% increase in bhp which is conservative by modern common rail diesel remap standards, so probably not far off on a lower pressure more agricultural system in good condition. Just ask the technician whether it increases the fuel pressure and by how much. VP44s can blow seals if increased resulting in nasty messes and more expense.
You can freely delete all the silencers in the exhaust and it'll still not be noisy in the cabin. I'm running just the box in front of the back axle and still can barely hear it on full load as the turbo and cat do a grand job of silencing on their own. Budget £1000 for about 25-30bhp, not necessarily in one go but blocks of 3-400 at a time. If you reckon it's worth it then do it, if not then it is what it is.
