Bit of a geeky joke this but...

I lift share (sadly only for another month, as he's leaving Sky) but he has a BMW 235i with connected BMW Drive App on his phone. Today I left my phone in his car, I only noticed when I got to my desk. Now my car share buddy works in a different building to me, 15 min walk away. My phone was on and connected into interwebs, so I used WhatsApp web via my Mac to message him.

He told me to call him, when I was outside the car. He would unlock it while still at his desk, as he could do it from there.

Ah, but I have no means to call him when outside it. But, I had my Apple Watch on, so I walked to the car and my watch connected via bluetooth as I was stood outside. So I called my car share buddy, via my watch. (it has mic/speaker)

Told him I was outside, he unlocked the car, I retrieved my phone. He then locked it again, while I walked back to my desk.

 ;D

My God, that is so scary Tunnie to us who can remember the 1950's, when only a few cars even had heaters let alone wirelesses!! :o :o

My Grandparents would be gobsmacked if they could return from the other side.  I wonder in tech will ever make that possible? :-\ ;D ;D ;)

My dad had a car with optional rear seat.

A mate had  a Ford (I think) with no rear seat too. He had a bale of straw instead.

No, Lizzie...But once we master time travel it will be a piece of cake. Time travel into the future is certainly possible if we can get very close to the speed of light.

Yes, it is amazing Varche what was considered "optional extras" if available at all with the old cars.  Like Ford insisting of any colour as long as it was black. :D :D ;)

One day it will happen, but the ramifications of us time travelling are too horrific to think.  What affect we could have bad as well as good! :o :o :o ;)

How do you know? If it has been invented then people will be using it to travel back to our time(the dark ages?) and have a look at us. Have you seen anyone around who doesn't quite fit in? No relatives? Don't know our customs?

Ah, then there are these "examples", one discussed on this site some years ago:

Spooky, coincidence, or a hoax? :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

I still cannot decide, apart from deciding to keep an open mind especially in respect of the Charlie Chaplin film :D :D ;).

This is a good point Snr Varche and maybe when people inexplicably disappear, it's because someone has travelled back in time and killed their ancestor or altered a course of events somehow.  ;)

Possibly because the big white beardy bloke ....

How do you know he's white and a bloke?  :-\  :D

Hmmmmm, I don't. OK, a more PC Rephrase, A person with a big white beard . . . . getting ready to flick the switch.

A picture more likely than not drawn by an old white bloke with a beard!  ::)

I think the modern incarnation would be a coloured trans gender person.  A Thai LadyBoy perhaps?  :-\  :)

Varche, you have stumbled across my secret! I am from the past, in fact, but I beg you not to tell anyone; not even the trusted members of the Forum, in case I get interrogated by the darker forces of our government. It should help to explain some of my old-fashioned views and my permanently remaining at age 29, however.....   8)

Time travel cannot/has not been achieved. If it had, someone would have killed Hitler or, if they were really pissed off, Adam and Eve.  ;D

Wooo someone going back in time to kill Hitler!  :o  Now there's a thread!  :y

We could do Stalin, Pol Pot, Leopold King of the Belgians, Kaiser Bill, Chairman Mao, Idi Amin and a whole host of historical nasties!  :y

What would Britain be like now if we went back and bumped off William The Conqueror in 1065?  :-\   :D
