Listing price
« on: 01 August 2008, 16:12:39 »

If I do go ahead with the 3.2 then it will be bye bye to the GLS, due to space rather than cost.

What should I list it at?

Good points are, 4 x almost new tyres, very long MOT and a small bit of tax. New sequential LPG done by me, with a spare wheel tank. Head gasket and cambelt done last month, with plugs and lots of oil changes since. and the aircon works.

Bad points are, 175000 miles, and the usual small couple of door spots.

It's a T, guessing 99?

Being an estate with MP LPG and new cambelt kit, would it be unrealistic to list it up at about £900?

But, But, it goes like stink and doesn't lose a drop of oil/coolant - I've driven models much worse with 75k on the clock  :-/

I am sure with the good compression on all pots, new HG and new cambelt kit, it aint gonna die anytime soon  :'(

Not relevent.  Buyers won't care.  Same as people who sell cars saying it has a new this, or a new that.

I agree that stands for most work done, but surely the average Joe Buyer would rather look for something that has just had a cambelt kit change, rather than one which was soon due?

My old Veccy 1.8 was on 220k and still going strong when that went :D

I've got a bee in my bonnet about a 3.2, I tell you this is worse than any alcohol or smoke addiction  ;D

I think you will find a buyer buying an old banger, probably as a short term runaround, really won't give a monkeys left tit.  In reality, very few buyers ever ask when cambelt was done, instead preferring a nice stamped up book.  We know they are misguided, but thats reality.

And I think you owe me a tenner - when you were doing HG, I bet you that you would get rid of it within 2 months ;D

Its got to be worth a try.  I seem to recall Autotrader online is under a tenner if asking price is below a grand.

I sold my 2.0 GLS estate last year with misfire , 180odd k miles and had a queue of people lining up to buy it (several would have exported it to eastern Europe.   I wasn't asking £900,  but still , I think there is a market for it.

I'm not necessarily asking for £900 either - I'm open to opinions :)

Max - comment is fair, but for the purchase price (to me) it was worth it - and I'm close to making the cost of the gas back in fuel savings really.

Don't forget your old Estate had 180k - and was going strong.

I appreciate the opinions - I'd also be interested on Mark's opinion on whether a 2.0 is nearly dead at 170k if it's all in good order ::)

Just like any other car, it could die tomorrow or run for another five years! For someone like me (if I were looking) who does 4-5000 miles a year, at a very sedate pace, it would be ideal.
I've had cars that I've hated and couldn't wait for them to expire so I could get a new one. But they dont, not until they're good and ready.
Advertise it for something reasonable (£8-900), push the LPG side of it and make it clear that you are open to offers. I think, as has been said, the tenner for under £1000 on trader sounds good.

Maybe a market at sub £300 and then id imagine it would be just due too the LPG and cheap running costs.

Shame as i wouldnt mind a second car....dont suppose its auto is it :-/
