Its got to be worth a try.  I seem to recall Autotrader online is under a tenner if asking price is below a grand.

I sold my 2.0 GLS estate last year with misfire , 180odd k miles and had a queue of people lining up to buy it (several would have exported it to eastern Europe.   I wasn't asking £900,  but still , I think there is a market for it.

Maybe a market at sub £300 and then id imagine it would be just due too the LPG and cheap running costs.

Shame as i wouldnt mind a second car....dont suppose its auto is it :-/

Less than £300 for a T reg Estate with nearly full MOT and a brand new sequential LPG conversion (Costing £600) and in perfect running condition?

If you can genuinely find me another one in the UK under £300, I will post you a tenner - no joke.

sadly, James, the only person i know who'd buy a 4 pot with that kind of mileage...... and even contemplate it's longevity...    is probably you.....

i sure as hell wouldn't go near one....
 :-?

I think I fall into James camp here, I will be picking up a 2000 W 2.0ltr
saloon tomorrow with 140k on the clock.

Having bought 3 volvo's a Jag and SRi with MOT & tax for less than £500 and run them for  over 2 years each, (except for the Volvo 3.0 ltr which let the cambelt go a week before the booking at the garage :()

I would much rather do that, than park a car that I am paying for outside the works for 8-10 hours and outside the house for 10+ hours of a night.

I was referring too the fact its extremely high mileage and the fact they make peanuts currently....no idea what the LPG would be worth.

Maybe my £300 is as ridiculous as your £900  ;D

I agree that stands for most work done, but surely the average Joe Buyer would rather look for something that has just had a cambelt kit change, rather than one which was soon due?

My old Veccy 1.8 was on 220k and still going strong when that went :D

I've got a bee in my bonnet about a 3.2, I tell you this is worse than any alcohol or smoke addiction  ;D

That coz it was carefully looked after by its previous owner  ;D

It used a tad of oil tho iirc  ;)

I'd try about £800 - £900 tbh.......only coz its been converted to lpg recently....that could have cost that easily to had it installed.....and really punt that in the ad......

So it seems they are getting a lpg converted car for basically what it cost you to have converted........and a free car!!!

Your not really telling porkies as your time doing the conversion has value!  ;)

If its only a tenner to advertise your not losing anything if you dont get a response......

Oh and a tip....on autotrader....make sure the fuel type is lpg.....and do a search after placing the ad to make sure it shows up when searching for lpg fuel type.......if it doesnt....phone autotrader and get them to fix the add so it shows up on searching for lpg.......i had this prob when i sold my veccyC........didnt show up on lpg searches........got no response......phoned autotrader and whinged at them......the did summat so it showed up and sold it easy after that  :y

As you know -- LPG is a big selling point at the mo .... and getting bigger!

Joe public knows that it can cost twice the asking price of the car to get one converted. So, as TD says -- they are basically gettimg a free car !!!!

Don't forget your old Estate had 180k - and was going strong.

yeah, with an extra litre and 2 more cylinders, and it's HG's were truly breaked to pieces, as you bravely discovered....

and rectified...

I'll be honest - I find ALL the Ecotec lumps will go to extremely high mileage, 4 and 6 cyl versions - it's all down to how it's been maintained.

I'll bet TB a curry that this one will still be going strong at 200k with no major mechanical issues :y

This is what I did.

Jag £500 LPG £1000, conversion paid back in 8 months

MV6 with LPG £1000, ergo car free  :)

not denying it will get there with tlc, unless the old 4pot trouble with no1 beats it.

Trying to convince a punter that a base spec, 9yr old, 170k car is worth more than a similar priced, higher spec, lower mileage one will be hard. Its already a buyers market.

Fully agree it's a buyers market, I have my eye on a Facelift which is silly money!
