yoofs on scramblers
« on: 30 April 2017, 10:35:05 »

Whilst out walking my dog

this morning I heard the all too familiar screaming sound of a motorbike coming my way.I was waiting to cross at a junction 30 mph limit with shops on one side and a pedestrian crossing and residential houses all around. In the distance I could see the bike 2up tailgating the car in front and then pull out for an ridiculous overtake.I'd seen enough and as they approached stepped into the road to confront them and unsurprisingly they veered round me up onto the empty pavement for about 50 yards then carried on down the road.
Now a lot of people will say why bother or put yourself in danger, well quite frankly I'm sick and tired of these yobs taking the mick whilst the police and the majority of the general public just stand and stare.
Feel better now  ;D

Problem is,we've all had that "victor meldrew moment" and been the first or only one to say something in a situation where everyone else wanted to and darent.it is very satisfying but sometimes you end up getting the !!!t thrown back at you.and nowadays lots of people just don't seem to give a monkeys ,speeding, using phones, etc etc.but good on you 👍

They hate being photographed/filmed, even though they didn't have plates.....

Well done annihilator.  That was brave. :y :y :y

I must say though, and I am speaking as one who has confronted a lot of yobs and general criminals, you must be careful when taking that kind of action.  All too many of the runts out there do not care a damn about you and your family, and will happily mow down the good amongst us without a thought, until they are caught.  The police advise is do not put your self needlessly at risk, but phone 999.  Just remember what can happen:

Loads of them round here at night, I'm tempted to get a paint ball gun and blast the buggers from my bedroom window but would likely be held to account when they fell off

The police seem incompetent, unwilling and unable to solve such problems. Recently signs have appeared on lamp posts warning that it is an offence to ride motorbikes in unsuitable areas. That helped..........only in the world of the moronic office dwelling pen pusher who dreamt up the idea.

It is tempting to take action for the sake of safer more peaceful streets, as the ones we delegate this responsibility to, clearly can't/won't/don't.

This person clearly went a little far though:

Someone did that recently on a trail through a forest in the Rhondda Valleys and luckily the mountain bicyclists spotted it before they hit it.  ::)

Thing is if the police were to turn out a motorcycle can go many places that a car can't,and I believe their powers for engaging in a chase are pretty limited and would only add to the "enjoyment" of said yoofs.Vigilante type action whilst very tempting is not a path anyone should tread.

Yes, the police often cut short chases of motorbikes for the reason you give.  What the police do is gather intelligence on the bike involved, and those using it (it can be a "pool" bike) and pounce when they get the opportunity without endangering members of the public or themselves. ;)
