« on: 04 August 2008, 12:22:55 »

:o Just thankful this kind 'motorway dodgems' driving isn`t more common. :o

*Video has loud use of the 'F' and 'W' words on the soundtrack.

The fact that it was being filmed would suggest some earlier provocation that is unseen.

yeah according to the guy it happened because he didnt let the guy in front of him earlier. but even so, with or with provocation surely it was still classed as dangerous drivng.

I can understand why the police won't get involved with such footage.

a) quality too bad to do anything
b) it doesn't show the whole incident
c) everyone would be out provoking drivers they didn't like, then filming small snippets.

If the footage was over a good time-length, then it may hold more weight, but as TB says, with a small snippet, you only see one side of the story...

I think the whole thing would be classed as entrapment, hence inadmissible.

I see this all to much on the road and these drivers get away with it all the time >:( but it did look like a white van man getting a taste of his own medicine from another white van man :)

would like to hope the whole thing was presented to police, not just a little bit.

You still thinking of one of these cameras James?

And, additionally, are probably sick of wannabe police coming up to them all the time...

Doesn't matter if they're sick of wannabe police approaching them or not - if there are genuine grounds for a complaint by any member of public they are duty bound to investigate it.

Giving the video to the police probably made his case weaker. If it was widespread for people to video entire car journeys maybe not so, but the existence of the video indicates he was expecting / courting trouble, IMHO.

Had he gone straight to the nearest police station with the damaged vehicle and reg. no. of the van and a couple of other cars who may contain witnesses and reported him for leaving the scene of an accident it may have been taken more seriously. Then again, they may still not want to know. >:(
