The labour is nearly three times as much.
The parts price will depend on how badly they're missing this month's target, but will be at least £100.


The VAT is still only 20%, so you're not getting stitched up there.

The work was carried out in a pretty remote part of the rural England /Wales border.

Average yearly wage is probably £15000, if that. Fancy London dealer costs would not work here.

Aren't you supposed to replace springs in pairs? That's a good price though, did the spring fail in Wales - he'll of a long way to go with a broken one .....

You should, but it doubles the cost. So lots of customers won't pay for it as it's too expensive.

Pretty rare when compared to the 'common as muck' Vectra.

Very few 2.8T made, or survive.

Wages are lower here plus so are business rates. The place will have been family owned forever. I think they make the money on overcharging for the parts. Having said that, motor factors deliver the parts same day , sometimes huge distances compared to uk. Our local opel dealer and suzuki dealer is just a man and his son. That is quite normal outside the big cities.

That's  not bad to me .....
Merc wanted  a tad over £400 each side for the  'air springs' on my R Class. I paid an Independent about £360 all in  to fit a pattern (Arnott) air spring ......
