Tyre size
« on: 04 August 2008, 13:39:59 »

What tyre size is fitted as standard to a Facelift Elite, I presume my new one has 17" wheels?

Dunno why but I suspect at the price I paid I may be needing to invest in some soon...

What tyres do you use, and how much do they cost you?

I had 4 new Continental Sport Contact 3's put on at WIM last week.

£110 each :(

was a lot cheaper than I could find them for locally, plus got the geometry done as well :)  Very happy

Should be 235/45/17 on a facelift elite.

Wait and see what they are like - you may be surprised :y

I will be putting 4 new ones on soon and the tyres i put on are called accelara and cost about £45 fitted each and that is at our local bathwick tyres but i do get discount there due the fact that there is five Omega's in the family and two of them do about 60,000 miles a year so we go though alot of tyres so if you do go and have a look they might be a few pounds more. I find these accelara to be a good all round tyre and i got about 26,000 on the front and about 31,000 on the rear :)

I use Nexen on the tractor, and they are better than the Avon ZZ3s I used to have on under all conditions I've tried so far.

Not sure I would use budget tyres on MV6 - I may have to swap the wheels over with tractor when I get MV6 aligned (mv6 has buckled wheels), so will see how it copes then.

I had a bad experience with Nexens stepping out... as did STMO.
Budget tyres on a 2.0 are fine but I'm not sure they'll cut it on my 3.0 - I may have to get some goodun's  :)

I really like these accelara tyres and have been using them for a few years now but how do you find the Avon ZZ3s as i have them on my 3.0 (the car come with them on) and i dont like them cos i find that they get a hold of every rut in the road :(

Only had the ZZ3s on the back of the tractor. Was always like driving on a greasy road - any attempts to give reasonable power coming off corners resulted in handfuls of opposite lock.  Quick getaways from standing start were also a no-no.  In the wet, they were truely awful.

I'm running Accelera Alpha's on the front, as recommended by a friend who has his own garage, and can't really fault them for £50 ish a corner, fitted. They're a bit hard but I've only managed to get them to let go once...... Braking very hard over a large puddle (deliberately) just to see what they do!!!

Apparently they aren't so good on wrong wheel drive cars though ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thats your problem.  Tracking is a waste of money, as what are you aligning it to?

Get a full geometry done on it (and not 4 wheel alignment etc), before you ruin another set.

Still, ruining the michelins is about the best thing you could do to those tyres - they are not my favourite!
