Removal of FL heater control panel
« on: 07 June 2017, 17:09:23 »

2000 2.2 petrol manual saloon
Changing the heater bypass valve on above car I broke off the HBV vacuum pipe at the bulkhead. I looked at my other 2.2 to locate the end, and found it dives through a bulkhead grommet into the cabin. I failed to pull the end back into the engine compartment. I presume I must now remove the heater control panel and install a new pipe.

This is not a job I have done before on an Omega, though I have done similar jobs on Senators. Haynes describes the job on an early Omega. I cannot find a forum guide.

Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

pipe goes to gubbins behind glovebox. Suspect nothing in centre console has to come out :)

Thanks very much - that's worth knowing.

I got lucky. After TB's advice I stopped dismantling theheater control panel on Thursday and pondered how best to proceed. ON Saturday morning I removed the panel below the heater and looked up.

Above the white clip, bottom centre, I could see the 2 heater water pipes entering a grommet, and between them 2 rubber hoses. The one on the left, plain black, corresponded to the hole in the engine compartment. I stuffed a new vacuum pipe into the engine end hole, plugged it into the HBV, and it worked. Phew!
