Kwik-Fit lifetime brake guarantee.
« on: 16 June 2017, 08:20:29 »

Has anyone had experience of this guarantee?
My brakes were OK at MOT time, but probably need new pads by now and as they were replaced ages ago (I don't do many miles nowadays, after retiring!) I'm hoping that they will still honour the guarantee - or will I be better off going to the OOF hero, Serek?

I would trust Serek over Kwik Fitup every day of the week. ;D

Of course, Kevin, I totally agree - but if Kwik-Fit honour their warranty it will be free - and won't hurt my meagre pension!  ;)

Iirc in order to keep the agreement active, youhave to have an annual inspection with Quick Sh!t and have anythungbfitted that they identify as sneezing doing. If you don't, or have it done elsewhere, the agreement ends.

I'm sure that's how it used to be. Maybe changed now  :-\

The trouble is Ron, as Kwik Fitup sort out your brakes under warranty they will wreck something else, like the wheel bolts or scratch your alloys, or somehow find other "faults" that they will quote to repair at vastly inflated prices, then bugger up that work as well!!

So in short nothing with Kwik Fitup will be free, but end up either costing a small fortune to put right or finish your car off!! My advice is NEVER enter you and your car into Kwik Fitup premises!! ::) ::) ::) ;)

I know that the forum are very anti-KF, but surprisingly I have had good experiences at the Witham and Boscombe branches (Boscombe not recently), and some good tyre deals, too.
I will have to stop bothering you lovely people and go down and see!

a few years ago I recall kwik fit doing the same deal . they only guarantee the car as long as you own the vehicle. I was in a waiting room when a young lady was about to sign up for the offer. kwik fits price for fitting front pads exceeded £240 , it was a pug 206. at the time a set of front pads was probably a tenner .

OUCH!
I have my invoice in a safe place, probably in the car, I will be taking my blind neighbour to hospital to visit his sick wife shortly (every weekday afternoon since March 1st - poor Omega!), so I'll check then. If I recall, the front disks were replaced too.

Years ago on my Audi A6 I went back for new pad under the guarantee - sorry mate you need new discs and they are not covered. I said really, show me - looked fine to me. Then took it to a Audi main dealer who did me a nice letter saying the discs did not need to be changed. Back to KF and they said well we think they do and we are not changing the pads unless you pay for them.

So useless in my opinion - don't think I've been in a KF since.

VW also offer it, fit discs and pads for one fee apparently, never pay again.

But I worked it out as same cost as 3 sets of discs + pads, if DIY fitting. My CC had new discs and pads just before I bought it at 77k miles at the front, rears are original, so given new front set will take me to at least 120/30/40k there is no point.

Ok, I've got the message!
I need to see Serek soon regarding my coolant loss/radiator leak soon anyway, so I will let the genius sort it for me.
I seem to remember a thread on here a whiel ago on here regarding a brake upgrade: is it worth doing?
Thanks for all the good advice, as usual, gents.

As DTM says, no harm in seeing what they say.  If they say no, then a set of TC pads are £15, and 20mins to fit...  (because I'm old, and it takes me 2 or 3 minutes to jack up the car nowadays).

Thanks, TB. Age is creeping up on me, too with its attendant arthritic pains; but I'll certainly give it a go if KF try to up-sell me!
I don't have Trade Club, but Halfords won't be too much dearer, I hope, and there must be a Guide on here.....

Not sure, does Keith B stock TC pads in the ABS shop?  Halfords without trade will be pricey.

Pretty sure tunnie did a pads and disc guide :y, so just follow that without the disc bit.
