If you hire or borrow a hole cutter it can take ages if it's worn.... 

I borrowed one from a mate last year to cut a hole for a bathroom extractor fan and it took about 2 hours to get through a double skin concrete block wall.

Agreed, the Hire ones I've had in the past have been worn, got my money back though.
