Just spotted this in another recent thread  ::)

But its reminded me how much smarter the lighter interior of the facelift looks, with black cloth at the bottom of the door card:



I would like the same look on mine.

Is there anyway to paint or spray this material black? Its just cloth after all. Maybe some kind of black dye?  :-/

I would just get some black cloth and re-upholster it. I doubt you could successfully paint it.

Paints not the right word i know that would just go in clumps and fall off.

Re-upholster it does not sound fun, looking at the door card its currently stuck on.

Was hoping maybe some kind of black dye?

I know what you're saying but I doubt you could apply it evenly without taking the cloth off and soaking it, in which case you may as well have bought some black cloth. I would take the door card off and have a look. I have a feeling there's a plastic frame that the cloth is stretched over before being attached to to door card. I have a feeling that is attached with some circlip-like metal retainers on plastic lugs.

I'll be fixing my central locking motor soon so I'll have a look while the door card's off.

i think the cream cloth with the black underneath was 2002 onwards

and i agree, i really like it!!

get some cloth dye and part mix with water and paint it on, a couple of coats should get the correct balance.

Thats what i was thinking.

Maybe a trip to the scrappy, by a door card and test it out.

Kevin - That would be great if you can take a look, if its semi easy to take it off, worth doing that and then soaking it, rather than applying a dye by cloth.

Then again i hope it could just soak into the cloth if dabbed on?

I have seen a lovley 3.2 MV6 Saloon, soooo tempting, but got to be practical.

Would like to buy a house this time next year.

It is practical. If you don't like where your house is, you can just use the MV6 to pull it somewhere nicer. ;D

Now that mine is costing me the same to run as my 1995 1.8 8v Laguna was when petrol was 80.something a litre I'm realising just how practical it is. :)
