Reminder of inflation ....
« on: 25 June 2017, 20:26:58 »

Ok, so back in 1975 I went to my first proper concert - Supertramp supported by Joan Armatrading.

I was surfing around earlier & found a poster advertising the event. Prices started at £1.00!

I remember enjoying it & as a 17 year old it was the loudest thing I'd ever heard  :y.

Both the band and Joan are still going as well ........

About £250 more than a left wing vegan sandal fest without running water should cost :-X

I've got many concert ticket stubs safely tucked into the album sleeves of bands that I went to see in the early seventies . I must dig them out to see the what the cost was back then .
They'll certainly be less than the € 467 I've just paid for two tickets to see Steely Dan and the Doobie Bros .

I've seen Joan Armatrading twice since moving over here . An absolutely outstanding blues guitarist and well worth going to see if you get a chance .

Best era for music .  :y

I got Rory Gallagher to autograph my ticket stub the first time I saw him live in Belfast in January 74. Ticket price £1.50 iirc.
Later that year when the Irish tour 74 live album was released I glued the ticket into the album sleeve.
When I moved to England in 79 my Mum chucked it in the bin.  ::)
I imagine it would be worth a few quid now, but if I still had it, it wouldn't be for sale.
Been to a few concerts at London O2 in the last few years, although I haven't usually paid for the tickets, the face value is usually around the £100 mark !
Last one was Neil Young. I'm glad I didn't pay for the ticket, as he was utter shite.  ;D

Hmmm. I've been to a lot of gigs, and still do. It's never occurred to me to keep the ticket stub or anything. So that's why I can never remember who I saw and when  ::)
