The original Brexit wasn't American independence, but Henry VIII's break with Rome in 1534 which ended the jurisdiction of the Pope and the Papal authorities in England, making the country an independent sovereign nation!  :y

This thread prompted a thought or two: given my appalling ignorance of history, this may not make any more sense than I usually do, but I got to thinking about our other breakaway situation, Northern and Southern Ireland. I never really understood the problem there, but I assume that it's to do with religion?
Since religion is a man-made fiction, why on earth don't they forget about any artificial difference and unite to enjoy what is a beautiful country?
Would I make a good international statesman, solving that problem at a stroke?   :y 8)

Ah the Yanks, there still deciding whether they should have a Referendum to Vote on whether they need a Referendum for the Referendum they didn't have in the first place, 241 years ago.

America, the best Country in the World in every respect, because their Americans, God Bless them. You know they did screw up though, they forgot to call their Language, which is English, American.   ::)

Oh yes, and also we only ever use "gotten" in the phrase ill-gotten gains; otherwise it is simply "got" - got it?  ::)
