And yet it's how you see so many vans (mis)loaded Even the (modern) van I saw earlier today, being towed by a Triumph 2000 (or 2500 .. hard to tell at a distance). You'd think someone towing with something like that would know better..

I've be worried about the soundness of whatever the towbar's bolted to.

Surely the towbar is the strength in the car?

Getting the Lambda's moved is one of the best tweaks to do on a 2.6 / 3.2 IMHO, takes a while getting used to the EML not coming on LOL.

Mine's never come on yet Ooops, should I have said that?

You need your codes read....Theres probably a P0650 listed.....if so, then change the ECU  After that  doesn't fix it....the EML bulb has probably blown

No codes, thanks anyway. I always use premium petrol which may help.

Back again after another weekend in the tin tent .. and to answer the earlier question ...

The photo was taken at Caen on the way home as I realised I had taken no piccies for the forum. The tin tent was correctly laden as always and beautifully stable when towing at 60 mph, however .......  the car "might" have been a tad heavier then normal as both rear foot wells "may" just have been filled with slabs of beer, and the rear seats "may" have been covered with around 40 bottles of wine, which was in addition to all the stuff we took and had to bring back ..... 

I did notice that when stopped for more than about an hour that the rear suspension dropped a tad, it soon came back up when the engine was started ....

I've done Portsmouth <> Caen a few times, a nice route if going Normandy, or down the West side of Paris

Clearly we need more bait on our lines, as you're not biting..

Thought the docks looked familiar - I was sat roughly there a few weeks ago coming back from Le Mans. Infinitely preferable to the chunnel for me - sadly not for my fellow LM-goers so I guess it's back to the train next year!

Nope, and to be honest it makes no difference.... the Portsmouth - Caen crossing is a relaxing time for a proper meal and a beer, and is easily my favourite crossing, and  I see no point in driving 170 miles EAST to drive back WEST again (ok sometimes South), as most of France is West of Calais, when I can drive 70 odd miles SOUTH to Portsmouth. The only time it made any sense to use the Dover - Calais crossing (P&O and horrible) was when we went to Dijon.

My holidays start the moment I slam the front door, so comfort, pleasure and good food are the targets. Speed has little priority as the holiday is planned around decent night stops in both directions... a major advantage of being retired is no calendar to worry about .. so 14 days on site this year was actually a 21 day holiday as we took 4 days to get there and 3 to get back ...
