Out with the dog this morning and I saw a woman driving a Zafira with a lad [presumably her son]about 11 or 12 years old in the front passenger seat and he'd got his feet up on the dashboard! Apart from the fact if it had been me with my son I'd have given him a belt round the head for doing that,do they not realise what would happen if the airbag fired?Or do they not just care?

See it all the time, too.. my other half is always putting shoe scuffs on the glovebox lid when she crosses her legs and that annoys me, so someone sticking their hooves on my dash would probably see me kick them out of the car

When I was a kid a trip through a 'toughened glass' screen because of the lack of a seat belt was seen as 'character building'

Its funny that, my other half once marked the glove box with her high heals but that's another story altogether

I once went to look at a car (no doubt described as 'immaculate') that had a rather large 'gouge' in the dashboard on the passenger side along with a nasty looking stain in the middle of the passenger seat...

...I did not buy that car

If the air bag goes off by firing its shot gun cartridge it can cause very serious injuries including death, so look at is as a Darwin pose and I'm sure TB approves.

Having seen the story of here earlier this week about women bits, guns and bullets, I will let you use your imagination on what the self-gratification implications are for a firing air bag between the remains of your legs.

I few years back I scrapped, er several, Omega's  - sorry. Anyway, I decided to set off an airbag - just for the hell of it. It was a side airbag from a seat - so not even a full sized one. Did it outside connected to long wires & to my battery charger to activate! Blooming heck, what a bang - much much much bigger than expected. Turns out that side airbags get triggered by 5 volts & I connected 12 +/- to it.

Surely the size of the bang will be dictated by the quantity of charge in the cartridge? The voltage needs to be high enough to get the detonator to fire but I can't see an increase to 12V making a noticeable difference  (230V or 11kV would be a different matter though................)

Andy, I hesitate to relate this story from my past, as I am not proud of it, but here goes.....
A few years back, I was driving along the Exeter by-pass when my very sexy passenged put he feet on the ample Omega's dashboard, then proceeded to drop her jeans and knickers. How could a gentleman refuse to oblige her with a little nether massage? Ok, it was an automatic, so I had my left hand free - and passing lorry drivers got a good view!
