Fibreglass fabrication ....

Remember the buggies me and HNO3GOH are going to build ??? Well .....   we have mananged to get our grubby paws on a stretched version chassis (4 seater) that we are going to chop and put back to two seater configuration.

With it comes some pretty sorry fibreglass wheel arches .... the plan is to patch them up and fill them ---- but it occured to us that, if we can make decent plugs and moulds we could push out a new set ( or three) for the next buggy .... here comes the question ...

Anybody know the best place to start, to get "How to" info in simple terms ??

Garage clear out in March 2011 and I will have a large amount of omega parts going very cheap.

To my great shame I bought it about 5 years ago. After the initial spurt of enthusiasm that saw a 'new' chassis' built from a Robin, & a very little bit of fibre glassing of stainless inserts, it's sat in my garage not doing very much at all.

BID? UNI? E & S  ...?   :-?  :-/  ;)

Bi-Directional woven cloth (equal threads at 90 x 0 degrees) = flexible and conforming.

Uni-Directional woven cloth (99% of threads in longitudinal direction) = rigid/stiff and high-modulus in tension.

'E'lectrical glass (most common for car body use) cheap and wets-out easily...not that strong or stiff.

'S'tructural glass (very high strength/stiffness) airframe and engineering structures...hghly alergenic.

Aramid (Kevlar) supremely-high modulus, very wear-resistant but difficult to work-with.

Carbon very-stiff and with high tensile strength, but costly and not wear resistant.
