Some choice mods planned for my mig
« on: 09 August 2008, 08:13:34 »

OK so I have done a semi 180 on selling my mig.  I figured that no way could I get something in this calibre and whatnot unless I bought a Jag, which given my current lack of £50k for a new high end XF, isn't going to happen :D

So, I plan to do a few choice mods to my mig to make her a little different from the average mig.  First up is tinted windows all round.  I've been told approx £160 for rear and all sides, so not bad.  Then some large (i'm thinking 19") alloys.  I've looked at several and have come to the conclusion that they need to be chunky to work with the proportions of the car.  Third up is a full Irmscher kit assuming I can get lucky and find one :D  And a twin exit exhaust too.....maybe even twin pipe, twin exit :D :o

I'd like to put some ICE in her too.  Back in the day when I was but a mere teenager, I had a thing for high end audio.  Not obnoxiously loud audio.....quality audio.  With plenty of space in the mig, this is a definite plan.

I'd like to lower her too once the alloys go on, to give a little more asgression to her looks.  I'd like to rip the interior from an Elite too.  Black leather all round :D  I'd like black carpets and door cards too, but not sure if this is possible.  We'll see.

I was discussing this with my mate James at work.  Now he and I are quintessential gents when it comes to cars.  We like the XF's, A8's and 5 series of the world.  He thinks (given his critical mind) that the mods would work in the cars favour but uneconomical in terms of overall car value.  I agree, but people do this all the time.  She drives well and feels like a car 10 times her value, so I see no reason why I shouldn't.  Cheaper than going and buying one of the above mentioned motors :D

Morning peeps! Sorry for the rambling, I'll shut up now :-X

A potential problem is with chavs at the lights - it will look quicker than it is, and it won't win any races, being a 2.2

Meh.  I have no time for the chavs.  Besides, the mods aren't there to make it look like a chav mobile.  They will be quite tastefully done.  The wheels will be nice and classy, the tints subtle.

I am wondering though if it will be worth my while to find an Elite that already has the Irmy kit and the 3 or 3.2 litre engine.  Having looked at the fuel consumption figures you guys quote, mine is actually comparable to the big v6 lumps.  Auto box for you I guess.

I don't think the decent kits look chavvy. Very tasteful imho.  But will attract attention at the lights ;)

Around town, V6 consumption not great, esp in auto form...

Oh I fully plan on the manual :y  I miss the control and response of the manual box.  I like the lazy factor of the auto, but the fuel consumption on an auto is poor :(

Manual FTW!
