Really it just been a publicity thingy potentially thats went wrong, However, whoever thought it up, have potentially made them a windfall christmas on sales ::), However, potentially on the other hand 40% discount, no bonus for their staff, and may just cut even ;D ;D..or go under :-/

Started out when Threshers suggested they put the voucher on a suppliers blog, expecting maybe a few hundred hits.

...As at yesterday evening it had reached the million download mark!

Whether it goes t*ts up for them or not depends on their margin I suppose. One thing's for sure, though, they must be shifting a lot of stock right now!

Darn right Mick. An estate would be even better ;D

What's your chosen booze? Would have to be Carlsberg for me.

Once did a visitors tour of their place in Copenhagen. At the end of the tour they sat everyone on long trestle tables with a bottle of everything they produced for a tasting (including something they called Elephant Beer, IIRC).

Got legless.....job done!!!  :y

BBC did a news item  on it - they choose some Lancing champers, Threshers base
price £27.00 ish

Same thing in Tesco £17.00 ish  - £15.00 ish if you bought a case.

Me thinks! marketing ploy - at no cost to them ??????????

Threshers already offer a blanket 33.33% off wine.  Buy 2 bottles get a third free is standard in all their shops.

40% might sound dramatic, but I guarantee they will still be making a margin on it! and strange as it sounds, Christmas will be a time when their sales drop slightly due to people stocking up on booze with the huge supermarket shop that we all do to make sure that we don't starve for those 2 long days that the shops are shut  ::)

I think someone in Threshers is in for a nice fat Christmas bonus this year!

I agree.....when ever i pop in i usually buy a case of Hardy's red £4.95/bottle or £19.80 for a case.....you carnt use the voucher if your already getting discount......so spose i could insist i pay full price for the wine and save an extra £1 /case.....havent looked at /compared the price of beers/lagers tho.....might be better saving on that compared to supermarkets  :-/
