I'm about as un-PC as you can get, and find very little offensive (apart from my Wii calling me a 43yr old fat sod ::)), but based on the fact some people may find your thread offensive, the admins will discuss behind closed doors...
[/highlight]

that makes 2 of us. but reading through some past topics we have got  sexism, mild racism, homophobia. but the minute religion is mentioned the nuts hits the fan. not having a go or being funny. just stating fact.

I agree with you.

However, I am not aware of wars involving nations have started over a sheep joke or two, but a religious joke, whilst amusing, could easily be offensive to others.  As admin/mod we try to keep the peace, preferably before hostilities reach too great a level....  8-)

I would imagine some leeway is permitted (and quite right too)......but, personally, I have found some recent posts on that particular subject rather 'cringe-making' (bordering on the offensive). :o

This forum, although public in scope is 'somebody`s' intellectual property and the "buck stops on their desk" with regards to legal or moral issues.
Perhaps, caution and consideration must be the watchwords where such delicate matters are discussed.

Facts or not.

I think the Admin are right, also Debs picked up on it.

Most things are generally passed off with a pinch of salt as I am sure most of us would agree.

Religion, whether people believe or not, goes down an avenue all on its own,   I believe the Admin have done the right thing, then there is no chance of offence being taken.

On annother note, I believe that any thread that a member has issues with then should contact Admin immediately rather than it get out of hand it can be pulled and considered.

As you may be aware, I started a thread on Air Riffles a few days ago, My opening line was, should this thread cause concern by any member, then contact admin and have it deleted.  May certain subjects should be covered by the same rules, the type of subjects that you mention in your post.

It does make sense having it pulled. I don't mean that to sound bad. I can find a religous joke as funny as any other. I don't think the admins want world war III starting on OOF. Thats my opinion anyway

And these can and do sometimes upset members, a recent thread with some very bigoted views upset quite a few members, that’s why best to leave the Mods to do their Job where they see fit.
If TB thinks it’s iffy then................. ;)

But then shouldn't ""bigoted views"" be discussed openly by adults....then once discussed the offended might just think...""oh blow me i understand where that chaps coming from now....whilst i dont agree at least i now understand"".

Of course that just a thought and im more than aware of the PC bandwagon people love too be seen too jump onto.

Post not directed at anyone.....just an opinion. :y

I was undecided, hence moved elsewhere for further, private discussion.  Had I thought it was defo overstepping the line, it would have been binned...

Yes, for the most part, I agree.  You'll find OOF very lightly moderated, mainly around moving posts to more suitable areas, or deleting those we believe WILL cause offence.  Most 'debates' are left running, with good, reasoned arguments ensueing.  Sometimes people get a little too passionate or personal, and these have to be dealt with.

Religion probably has to be dealt with a little differently, as it is all too easy to deeply offend believers of various Faiths, and we don't want to offend anyone if we can help it...

A couple of us older members once commented that Christmas was an over-rated, commercialised bunch of cr*p. It caused quite a debate and resulted in one member becoming an ex member..

We need more of that please. ;D
