Periodically over the last two weeks there's been some hefty rumbling going on, with no apparent cause... Did wonder initially if La Palma had finally fallen over

Just heard it again, only a lot louder. Looked out of the window just in time to see three F18s taking of in formation

Gando/Las Palmas is a major Spanish Air Force air base, and hosts a squadron of approximately 24 (second hand ex USN) F/A-18's, under the banner of ALA-46, plus detachments of Casa 235 maritime patrol planes and Puma/Cougar Helicopters operated by Esc 803.

The F-18's' should have large numbers on their noses, in the format 46-XX. If you tell me which numbers you see, I'll tell you the Spanish serials and the ex USN Bureau Numbers

Sightings-and the soundtrack to go with them- like that are awesome aren't they? Way back in the '60s RAF Finningley[now Robin Hood airport]air show always opened with a "scramble" of 4 Vulcans all going off at the same time-boy did the ground shake!
