Price of a service.

I've just paid a local independant garage £195 for a service on the astra! :o

They do a good job but...........that's pricey. :(

I was £180 for the service on my mig at a VX dealer  :-/

Cost for me...

£8 for some oil.
£1 for a filter
£1.50 for half a tin of carb cleaner
£1 or so in paper towels
50p or so in rubber gloves...
£5 for some brake fluid..
£15 for some antifreeze
£10 for an air filter?
£10 for fuel filter?

Whats the extra £140 odd for?  :-/

Yeah but if Steve lay down to do an oil filter, someone would call an ambulance ;D

Get a 2.2, you don't need to... with the right oil tray i can do a 2.2 oil change without jacking it uP!  8-)

I actually made a profit on the oil, i bought a 4 for 3 before it went up, you had the whole box off me.

Got it back after it had gone up....

Should have taken it back to the dealer and cashed in  :D

I just asked in my local vauxhall garage (NOW heathrow) how much a full service would cost . . . . . . .250£ for a 2.2!!!!

For my £195 I got:

Oil flush/change and filter
Strip brakes/clean/adjust
Air filter
Pollen filter
Fuel system cleaner
Srark plugs

As well as this I got a MASSIVE good garage scheme checklist with the brake pad and disc measurements, tyre depth measurements and even a CO2 emissions readout. If I have any complaints I can go online and slag the garage off.

Breakdown was:

Parts      £ 76.20
Labour    £ 90.00
VAT        £ 29.10


Total      £195.30


Not that bad for what I got.
