Now if I was given the job of gearbox design it would have wet multiplate clutch, sequential gearbox and one servo, and it would have enough gears not to have to change revs too much

Don't knock the Smart car - they are ideal to keep in your boot in case of crank sensor failure or running out of petrol :y

one of my dads company cars is a smart diesel - 800cc, cdi, 3cylinder. he is a car mechanic and has a choice of sprinters, vitos even 5.2l grand cherokee. his prefered mode of transport is the smart, unless he really needs bigger vehicle

I'm far from an expert but i believe the Smart engine is an Omega starter motor! 8-)

Your prob not wrong there  ;D Having said that, our starter motors prob give out more BHP than them engines!

They put engines on skate boards, why not roller skates? They do come in pairs after all. I wonder which one seized first left or right?
