Omegas are now being wanted for export so scrap values have risen they are mainly interested in 2.5td's & 3.0 v6s any trim level!

there export value is around £450

2.5tds are having the shell scrapped and the running gear exported

3.0 v6s are going as complete

the nigereans want them apparently but i heard this off a good mate who is a scrap dealer

Although, you've got to wonder who's buying them when average income is about $330 a year.

Still, petrol would be no problem with all those leaky pipelines...

It also works the other way - modern diesels that have years of life left in them being scrapped because 2nd hand car values have plummeted so much that the cost of the pump is more than the car is worth

Have you tried to buy a half decent diesel for about £500 recently? I looked pretty hard about 18 months ago and totally failed. What is out there is 300,000 mile rubbish, polished and clocked back to 80,000.

I bought the first decent petrol I drove in the end. An honest 2.0 GLS Omega as it happened, 110k on the clock. Not the best car in the world but it had a certain quality that meant that, when the opportunity came up to get a better car, I chose the MV6. It is a driver's car - a good one too. Even a 2.0.

These days, I am not sure that £1.5k is enough to go shopping for a good diesel that doesn't need another £500 spending straight away.
