Seems a bit strange to MOT a car 2 days and 60 miles after it passed a test. 
If its as genuine as presented, spending the same again on recommissioning will make it a cracking car, and one well worth keeping.

yes , you would struggle to get as good a spec car for £3000 to £4000
so worth spending a grand or so to bring it back to life ,provided it's solid

Tbh I'm of the view with these cars now that if you want a properly good one, you need to look upon it as a £4-5k car.

Buy the best you can and be prepared to put the work and money in. I selected that on the basis of spec, interior and colour.
