Hi! I have just come across this!

Has any body tried it?

I used to use an old windscreen washer motor and pump to spray a fine water mist into the carb of a couple of my sports cars in my boy racer days!! It worked brilliantly when accelerating. I had a small switch attached to the gearstick and activated when needed.

I don't understand how spraying normal water into a fuel mixture will do anything but kill the engine off!

Proper hydrogen gas / fuel cell technology maybe, but water?

I had water injection on my Supra and 800 Vitesse, though that was purely to reduce charge temp, though the added oxygen in the air flow was always welcome, as long as there was addional fuel to compensate

Reduces air temperature, adds engine cooling, and slightly raises CR.

Also a little bit of go from the water turning to steam in the engine

But surely the fact that it's wet and is going towards extinguishing the spark is counter productive?  :-/

It goes in as a fine mist, by the time it reaches the chamber its all but evaporaited away leaving oxygen behind, a little hydrogen (not worth sod all) but the incoming temp of the air flow from the turbo is much cooler - hence denser , so more 02 to burn with the extra fuel...

Jon you have it! Most of the power in an engine is lost through heat. Also the fine spray of water does increase the expansion in the cylinders.
Don't know if anyone has noticed that the cooler and more dense the conditions are, does make a difference to the performance to an engine, any engine.

Correct the RR Merlin used it to great effect!

Yes, but not enough heat to split the H₂ from the O

 Correct, but it does lower the intake charge, making it more dense, just see how much better your car runs on a very cold day
