One of mine is a Sony GRT100.  Knocking on a bit now.

I actually bought it off a mate as I knew its history.  But it has a dedicated 32MB GeForce4 Card in it and a 17" screen that runs at 1600x1200

These days they have dual video support and dual hard drives, the list goes on.

Look at the Alien range on http://www.alienware.com/products/notebook-computers.aspx

Reckon the following would suit Darth vader Loo-knee
http://www.alienware.com/products/area-51-alx-desktop.aspx?SysCode=PC-AREA51-ALX-R8&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT

Allways the same.

Technology is allways exspensive when now.

Nows why I am just about to buy my 1st Duel core CPU, but even considering a Quad core.

I had a 19" TFT about 4 years ago, cost £450 on Ebay and still going strong, same thing today would be about £125

Cheers.

Must admit 3d is something I have been meaning to have a go at, one of the forum members put me on to Google sketchup so that I could draw some room plans, slowly worked it out, then did a 3D diagram for some plumbing,

I have a mate who is a whizz with Lightwave and the other 3D Studio.  So maybe quadcore it is then.

Main think I do is a lot of filetransfers, often 1000's at a time, so I dont know if quad core would be any better than dual core or even single sore there.

Also have had no dealing with 64 Bit OS or even Vista at this point.

P.S.  Sorry we are hijacking TB's thread here.

Only problem with 64bit is drivers, or lack of them.  Printers in particular seem to lack 64bit drivers.

64bit is only useful if you have more than 3.5G RAM, as extra memory addressing is the main benefit...

Multicores - or at least more than 2 - is only worthwhile if your app(s) are multithreaded.  Servers benefit from lots of cores, as do, obviously, machines running lots of virtual machines.

Agreed ..3D studio have rendering engine for multicores but do fail with them without any definitive message under 32 bit..
