He seemed ok as deputy speaker and must surely be an improvement on the hideous little poison dwarf he is replacing.

He was not impartial, he had his own agenda. The worst speaker the house has ever had.

I'll wager a few Tory MP's who had a strict nanny when they were children got a boner when Betty Boothroyd used to tell them off. :)
