There is a big problem here. Most people do not disagree that something needs to be done, but....to do as Extinction Rebellion or Thunberg say we should do, we would immediately kill everyone on the planet by either starving them to death or freezing them to death.
It's no good banning stuff without a viable replacement.

Yes, but when you put that argument hand in hand (as many many people do) with "well we can't make a difference anyway" you have a self-fulfilling prophecy that says we do nothing.

One or other of them may be right or wrong, but at least half the worlds schookids aren't awake with nightmares every night because of what this one is saying.
Problem with little grimbo is, that much of what she says could easily be taken apart, but everyone is too afraid to upset her.

If you look at what allegedly adult media types have said about her, you'll see that's total bullsh!t. If you look at the way a lot of these adults berate and harang a child, its pretty shameful. Or would be if they had any decency.   

I sincerely believe, Jimmy, that we will never find a viable alternative for fossil fuels. Not in the necessary timescale, anyway. I also believe that, even if the UK was totally carbon neutral in ten years, if would make absolutely no difference to the world at large. China and the US have no intention of cutting emissions in the short, or even medium, term.
Fatalistic? Maybe. Realistic? Definitely.

I wouldn't be so sure on the china front. They know that at the moment they have massive reliance on oil imports from the likes of Russia, middle east etc, they only have 1-2% of the world's oil reserves and at present they need far more.

They are looking to be a world leader in renewables because it will give them a massive advantage on the medium/long term world stage and they're investing big.

I don't know about the bigger picture, but I do think there are plenty of economies around the world that would like to not be reliant on the less than savoury regimes that hold the majority of the world's fossil fuel reserves.

Im not talking about adult media types. Im talking about the people who run the world. They wont disagree with her because shes a little girl with a lot of followers.
By the way, she isn't a child shes a 17 year old. If you more or less declare yourself the new messiah when your 17, you should expect as many people to hate you as love you.
Personally, Im suspicious of the motives of her parents.

 The only thing climate change has done is make an awfull lot of people rich, especially governments, as they have found it as a good revenue stream that people don't complain about.,, I'd love to see how much carbon these activists dump jetting around the world preaching.
