Antisocial distancing is my forte, so pretty much the status quo here
This.
Pulled a wealth of sh!tty 1980's bedroom furniture out of the back bedroom, revealing a nice big damp patch and a hole in the ceiling.
Given its location, I'm 99.9% sure it's the lead flashing and/or pointing on the chimney stack. Not sure if I'll pay out to fix it, or go diy, access is easy and I think I've got some lead in the shed. Guess it depends on how I get on with all the other jobs on the list first 😂
Roof first, Jimmy, always roof first.
I had a few conversations with 'roofers' over the years that have gone something like this...
Me: I think it's leaking around the chimney.
Roofer: Well if it is, we'll have to take the chimney down.
Me: Surely it's quicker and easier to fix the flashing.
Roofer: Yes we'll take the chimney down.
Me: There's nothing wrong with the chimney, the chimney doesn't leak.
Roofer: No, but we'll take the chimney down.
Me: It's the neighbours chimney.
Roofer: He'll have to take the chimney down then.
Me: His ROOF isn't leaking, it's my ROOF that's leaking.
Roofer: Well anyway the chimney will have to come down.
Me: Sigh....
