Hi , I am located in south Worcestershire. Now have been a hot rodder since the 70s (old fart) and have owned an 1951 Austin 10cwt countryman since mid 70s . As a mechanic since the age of 15 (and still an MOT tester) have never had a standard car till recently . Point of this story is the countryman is being rebuilt for the 3rd time, it started in 2002 when (and by then took over the garage I was trained at) it needed a tidy up that turned into a 3ins channel . A customer of mine had a 3L v6 Omega estate ex police that we maintained and serviced (but it turned out his history was false ) and the timing belt tensioner collapsed causing the belt to jump. So after a quote for heads off it was going to scrap, bought it for £50 as a downer for the Austin. Fast forward a few years after losing garage and working for others I have managed to strip Omega of all the parts to go in the rod. Keeping the ABS , hubs engine and box , diff and thinks like door locks , window mechs and instrument cluster. So will be asking a lot of questions when stuff doesn't work!! like has anyone fitted a stand alone ECU . Keys have long gone and don't want to run EGR , the original ECU is chipped as apparently police spec had extra 20hp ish . So hope no one minds me joining just to pester !!!!
