Work done in the last month
« on: 01 September 2008, 16:27:02 »

In the month or so I've had my Elite, the following jobs have been acheived:

1) Cambelt kit replacement. (Good job, it was on last legs). Coolant flush.
2) Inlet stripped down and oil cooler seals replaced.
3) Coolant bridge seals replaced
4) Thermostat replaced (incl b@stard bolt!)

5) Gearbox replaced, replacement kitted out with uprated sonnax
thrust washers, cleaned out and filled with fresh ATF. (thanks Mr Sassanach for spending the day on this with me!) I STILL need your paypal addy for those parts ;)

6) Both front wishbones replaced, - a thankyou owned to Kev for putting me up (putting up with me?) for a weekend of spanner twirling.

7) Knock sensor has been replaced and wire repaired, fault code disappeared.

8) EGR valve savagely attacked by Kev and a can of cleaner - fault code gone :D

Jobs left to do

1) Alignment
2) Sort out PAS drip (although it is minimal)
3) Gearbox/climate update
4) Sort out last remaining fault code, lambda1.
5) Sort out wiper motor niggles.

Not exactly in the "perfect mechanical condition" it was advertised as,

Definately getting there though... it's no wonder I'm knackered this month!

Oh, when I bought it, I was getting 20mpg out of a steady motorway run.

Now it's all coming together - at the same speed it is averaging 30mpg or thereabouts, so some good has come of it :y
