my trusty 8 year old PC died the other day, PSU blew.... time to make a call. I aint buying a replacement PSU!

Looks like i am making the switch to Mac.....  :-X

Got an Intel Chipped Mac Mini, just upgraded it to OSX Leopard, looks like it will be my main machine now!

The favourites I've seen are PSU going pop, cheap capacitors on the motherboard going pop, and the fan on the video card siezing whereby the video chip overheats, causing crashes until it burns up or de-solders itself from the board.

vga card is passively cooled. Its an old mid range ati 9600 radeon

I was right, replacement vga card, and it all sprang in to life....

....for about 4hrs, then the HDD started banging, and it blue screened.  Seens to hang in loading XP now, with losts of HDD clunking, before resetting...

...guess I need to dig around for another HDD for it now....

Sure the PSU hasn't gone iffy and started taking out the rest of the system? Might be worth putting a mutimeter across each rail before soending too much on it.

My old desktop.

It started smoking from somewhere around the system board, then promptly locked up.  Oddly, wouldn't boot after that.

Do you reckon its toast?

You spilt Stella in it didn't you..... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
