I regularly use Hermes and their drop off service for heavier items that Royal Mail would charge a fortune for delivering. Hermes service has always been excellent with very competitive pricing and very prompt deliveries.
I also use TNT and Tuffnells for over length items, and they both also provide an excellent service at a very cost effective price, usually with next day delivery part of the service.
Can't rate all three highly enough.
Royal Mail for larger items over 2kg are a joke imho.
