They didn't keep the Ford capless design then ???

So much for progress  :D

This is a good design.  :)

Open the flap, push your nozzle in and fill her up!  :y
Wifey's megane was the same. I didn't trust it at first, but it worked fine.

VAG cars have also suffered from broken fuel cap retaining straps for many years. Nothing new. Often caused when the strap doesn't twist round as intended with the rotational movement of the cap.
I can think of more serious issues to worry about with JLR cars though...

If they can't make the easy stuff work, they've no chance with the complicated stuff...

I can only quote on my personal experiences with the RR  a vehicle which I thought I would never buy although always giving it credit for being in my opinion the best looking 4x4, mine was low ownership with low mileage + full history, fortunately I knew somebody who knew a brilliant independent specialist who I gave free reign with mine financially to put any faults he found right, he said once it gets over the £2000 mark I'll give you a call so was surprised when my bill was only £900, in his opinion I'd found a good one. He said a lot of folk buy them & fail to maintain them properly but I have to admit that there is no way I would buy a new one with the faults that are being spoken about.

It's all personal choice in the end, I know a lot of folk are not as fussy as me with their vehicles but I like them 100 percent as they should be OCD I'm afraid after a lifetime in uniform & won't change now..👍

Just, Linky needed Rangie.  Mine bust a few months ago.

Opti, you know the cap is designed to clip on the raised bit of the hinge when filling, rather than dangle and bang on the bodywork ;).  This still works even with no strap.

Yes....thanks TB. I am aware of this JLR 'refinement'. For some reason I remove the cap and then place it on the roof, or on the pump itself.

I'm pretty thick. :)

As a 'woke' person I have to say that is not an acceptable comment to make in 2020. Not every person has a 'free hand'..... ;D ;D ;)

Hmmm......you may be correct, but I'm not sure there is a specific anti-wanking law prohibiting such action. :)
