this is worrying......
« on: 01 September 2008, 22:14:11 »

The government on the whole have worried me a little over the last few years....but this scares the crap out of me

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7589739.stm

We are in the worst economic state since the end of the second world war!!!!!
Quote
the Chancellor said that voters were "pissed off" with Labour's handling of the economy, a key issue at the next election

opps me, there's an understatement  :o if they believe they have a cat in hells chance of winning the next election they had better wake up and smell the shit trail they have left...... >:(

The next worry is who will be voted in next and how they deal with the economy

What is even more worrying is the fact that relations with Russia are so hostile... such disagreements can wipe out countries with such nuclear capabilities...

Apparently the government is angry at Russia because it has been invading other countries - pots and kettles come to mind. >:(

He really hasn't grasped this Chancellor job, has he?

In his position, you have the whole financial markets hanging on your every word so you say nothing, or if you have to say something you make sure it means nothing, implies nothing and gives none of your thoughts away. It's so easy to upset the apple cart. Being honest like this is just sheer madness and something I thought all politicians were genetically incapable of.

Spinning bull5h1t and half-baked plans is the prime minister's job. (one the current prime minister isn't even capable of)  Yet we've had him spinning stories about a stamp duty holiday, thus grinding the housing market to a halt, he's talked himself into pouring more and more cash into Northern Rock and now he's talking us into a recession, if it weren't inevitable anyway.

I think he should be moved to the foreign office to take over UK-Soviet diplomacy. Maybe he'll talk us into world war 3 and put us all out of our misery.

Darling was the Transport Secretary when Railtrack went tits up and look how that turned out :( It always seems that the bigger the cock up you make, the better promotion you get out of it! How does that work? If I cocked up at work, I'd get the boot ;)

Sadly this governemnt has increased the public spending massively without actually getting anything extra for thier money. Worse still is that they have been borrowing money to pay for it!

I have said it many times, you do NOT throw money at organisations which are poorly organised and inefficient (i.e. pretty much all the public sector), you egt them working properly first.....and in reality if you do that the chances are you dont need to up the spend anyway!

Whoever comes into power will upset people as they WILL have to increase tax (still think it was bloody stupid to drop the base income tax threshold) and reduce public sector spending to balance the books!

The current Government is just moving with the wind, having lost direction and any ability to have any command over a situation which is in the hands of all the modern factors of gobalisation in terms of all market trading and the ecomomics of the major countries of the planet.

For any British government now to gain control, they require leadership of Churchillian proportions, with enlightened imagination, a very strong will to bring about massive change, and the utter commitment to drive us all out of this mess.  As during WWII, it will be very painful, with tax rises, curtailing of all workers and public sector pay deals, with perhaps rationing of certain fuel imports to reduce the national trade imbalance deficiency.

A new social capitalist system is also demanded, whereby our major industries are fully taxed to pay, with no off shore loopholes, for a major national restructure of the educational system that will be a true meritocracy, then a employee training / re-training scheme especially for the 16 - 25 year old age group. Integral and crucial to this plan should be the development of new industrial initiatives to build a industry that can compete with the rest of the world and always takes full advantage of any opportunities that arise by ensuring the workforce is multi-skilled can meet the challenge.

Our industrial base, with 21st century industries, must be rebuilt to reverse the nations reliance on the service industry.  A new British 'Industrial Revolution' is required in the areas we could excel in within this modern globalised world.

This will take pain, hardship, hard work and many tears over a prolonged time period, with much sacrifice by all British citizens in a social endevour to re-take control over our destiny to produce a country that is again a world leader with great pride and political purpose for all, not just a minority as now, within a complete Great Britain of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland that has full soverienty over its affairs, but as a partner within Europe.

Does anyone identify any politician with the strength of character, personal desire, the imagination, let alone the utter commitment to lead us in such revolutionary politics and give the citizens a new exciting focus of endevour?  I don't!  :( :(

Not sure that Russia's nuclear capability has much to do with the global economic down turn.

What is more relevant in my opinion is that Russia find them selves in a very strong position in respect to their fossil fuel reserves.  In fact its not just Russia but several other 'unstable' countries.

dads army " We are all doomed". ;D ;D ;D

Alistair Darling gave all those living abroad with a £ sterling income an instant ONE percent pay cut after tax with his protecting his rear comments about its is going to get worse. Thanks mate.

Todays measures to prop up the housing market make sense sort of. If people lose their houses then they look to the government to provide a council house or similar at taxpayers expense. At least this way the housing pack of cards is still standing....

We will know when we are in a real recession cos benefits will be cut and people will have to rely on friends and family like they do in other (less civilised ?) countries.

Britain needs to bite that bullet and get those nuclear powers stations built now without Saudi money.

there IS a third option, and if people would give them a chance , i'd be delighted.......  i've been voting lib dem , or plaid cymru (depending on current living place) my entire life...

they'd probably still opps it up....  but it cannot be worse than the other 2, and they'd typically do it more honestly and openly...

they'd probably still crappity smack it up....  but it cannot be worse than the other 2, and they'd typically do it more honestly and openly...

Problem is, until they establish themselves as a party that's truly in the running to win, people will see it as potentially wasting a chance to get labour out... and that will be most people's focus at the next election.

Their green agenda is a bit too strong too. This country has been treading water for 10 years and it's all coming home to roost. Side-issues like the environment can wait until the next boom IMHO. The priority needs to be to solve the multitude of crises that labour has put us in.
