Easy to forget the size of these things - XL318 is on display at RAF Hendon. Well worth a visit (at some point far in the future).
Yes, went there before the first full lock down started with one of my grandsons, the 10 year old, as I had been there many years before with my children.
Obviously the displays have changed and are even better now. My grandson (and !) loved being able to get underneath the bomb bays of the Vulcan and the Lancaster. I was able to explain to him the pay loads they could carry, the destructive power of both, which was helped by the array of bombs around the Vulcan.
Yes, they are big and lovely, and I am pleased to say the ten year old was able to see the Vulcan when flying at the Eastbourne air show a few years ago. Just a shame all the examples are now grounded, but at least every so often we get to see the B of B Flight Lanc, let alone a constant run of Spitfires in the Summer, flying over down here in the South East.
My granddon and I cannot get enough of them!!
