Suspect you've got it arsi-tarsis. Don't do boats, but...
HMS PoW departed Pompey for sea trials last Saturday. I think that'll be the one you saw. I haven't heard that it's gone back into Pompey, but it's possible since it hasn't got any aircraft on-board and that's what I'm interested in.
HMS QE departed Pompey shortly after PoW also last Saturday. It was already embarked with 7 RN Merlin Helicopters. 4 RAF/RN F-35's and 5 USMC F35's embarked on Sunday. Another 4 RAF/RN and 4 USMC F35's embarked on Monday. A final USMC F-35 embarked yesterday (it was busted and wasn't fixed in time for Monday). The rest of the QE carrier flotilla includes RFA Fort Victoria (with 3 RN Merlin HC4's), HMS Defender, HMS Diamond, HMS Kent, HMS Richmond (each with one RN Wildcat HMA2), RFA Tidespring, USS The Sullivans (USN UH60), and HNLMS Evertson (Cloggie NH90). There is probably also a Hunter Killer sub in the group too - but they are hush-hush. The whole lot has been involved in exercises off the north coast of Cornwall this week.
QE is supposed to take part in a Joint Warrior exercise to the north of Scotland next week, so it's likely to be working it's way up the Irish sea this weekend.
HDMS ABSALON and HMCS HALIFAX were both in Liverpool docks until this morning. Both are carrying helicopters. RFA Tideforce was also there.
The USMC Carrier Iwo Jima is currently just off Dundee, with around 12 MV22's, 6 AV-8B's, 4 CH-53's and 2 SH-60's on board. And the Assault ship USS San Antonio with 3 AH-1Z's and 4 UH-1Y's is up there too, together with HMS Albion. San Antonio was in Plymouth docks for a week a in mid April.
There is also a very large scale 82nd airborne Para Drop just about to happen in Estonia. Around 10 USAF C-17's are just about to enter UK airspace to the north of Scotland en route to the drop zone.
Other than that - all quiet on the western front
