Just Arrived
« on: 05 September 2008, 12:06:40 »

Just arrived at Newent :)

Can't see any Omega's here though, the folks here must of buggered off already for the day!

Weather is... Wet!  Drive down M6/M5/M50 was spray central, but traffic WAS flowwing quite nice.  Traffic alerts on the radio were saying about holdups on various A-roads down, so those going that way from the NW may have issues.

The road is also flooded on the way into the site (about 1/2 a mile from the actual site itself) water is about 8 to 10 inches deep.

Anyways, guess I should wait now for anyone else to turn up...

I must admit it seems crazy to be spending a weekend in a tent, in these conditions...

Edit to add - if I have trouble getting through, I'm turning back.
I was in Gloucestershire in the major 2007 floods and I know that over the course of a weekend it could get unpassable...

One reason I bought a new tent, its a bit better then the one I had at Keswick!

Also, anyone who has yet to leave, do you have a spare hookup cable for power??  I left mine at home, and need power for the fridge...

[edit]James, if you come in from the M50 and come off J3, the road that way is clear (other than the deep puddle on the way in) but it should cause no problems to most[/edit]

HNO3 and his missus are down in Cornwall for a few days, dare I say it, in a caravan.  Apparently this morning at 7 am they were chasing the awning around the site !!!!!

Hope all goes smoothly at Newent and nothing, or no-one takes off or drowns !!
