My Hotpoint dishwasher has started filling itself whilst not in use. I reckon this is down to a faulty inlet valve solenoid (cold water).

The OEM valve costs £42.75

Is it worth a punt to get the latter item and see if I can get it to work, thereby saving myself a tenner?

I do a bit with solenoid valves in water systems at work. They virtually never fail outright. They get a build up of limescale which stops them sealing or actuating.

For the price of some kitchen descaler, I would have a go at the 'wet' bits of the old one first.
